Conducted round table „Certifying as data protection in Bulgaria and the EU, pursuant to GDPR (EU) 2016/679”

On 10th of October 2017, the First national round table on „Certifying as data protection in Bulgaria and the EU, according to GDPR (EU) 2016/679” took place. The event was attended by representatives of governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, private business and the academic sphere.

        The CPDP was represented by Mr. Tzanko Tzolov and Ms. Mariya Mateva, both members of the Commission’s board, Mr. Stoyan Tsanov, head of „Planning, Training and Project Management” department, and Mr. Hristo Alaminov, senior expert in „Legal Affairs, International Cooperation, Planning and Training” directorate.

        The aim of the round table was to examine the opinions of all stakeholders. During the meeting the different certification options, which the Regulation offers, were discussed. A detailed run-down of the accreditation procedure BAS QR 2 of the National authority for accreditation of Republic of Bulgaria – Executive Agency Bulgarian Accreditation Service was given by Mr. Boyan Ivanichkov, state expert in the EA BAS. The Chairman of the board of the Bulgarian Institute for Standardization – Mr. Ivelin Burov stressed the importance of a joint endeavor of all interested public bodies for the establishment of a unified national standard. The Spanish and Italian experience in the sphere of accreditation and certification of the data processing activities were thoroughly examined by Mr. Riccardo Giannetti, certification manager at InVeo SRL.

Participants in the round table praised the initiative undertaken by CPDP.
