Eurodac Supervision Coordination Group

The European System for Automated Fingerprint Identification (Eurodac) is a computerized system created on the basis of Council Regulation 2725/2000/EC of 11 December 2000 for the establishment of the `Eurodac` system for fingerprint comparison for the effective application of the Dublin Convention.
The Dublin Convention of 15 June 1990 is replaced by Council Regulation 343/2003 of 18 February 2003 for the establishment of criteria and mechanisms for determining the Member State responsible for examining an asylum application lodged in one Member States by a third party.
The Eurodac Supervision Coordination Group is chaired by the European Data Protection Supervisor and it is a platform within which the data protection authorities responsible for the Eurodac supervision under Article 20 of Regulation 2725/2000/EC, cooperate to provide joint control.
The Group:
• examines the issues arisingfrom the use of thethe system;
• examines the difficulties faced by supervisors during inspections;
• analyses the difficulties in interpreting or applying the Eurodac Regulation;
• prepares recommendations for common solutions to existing problems;
• improves cooperation between the supervisory authorities.
The Bulgarian representatives in the Eurodac Supervision Coordination Group are Ms. Mariya Mateva and Mr. Tzanko Tzolov, Members of the Commission for Personal Data Protection.
On 14th June 2017 Ms. Mariya Mateva was elected Vice-Chair of the Eurodac Supervision Coordination Group.
